Сherkizovo group opened the first two modules of its pig production complex in Lipetsk region
On the 17th of February 2006, Cherkizovo Group inaugurated the first two modules of its pig production complex in Lev-Tolstovsky district of Lipetsk region. Aleksey Gordeev Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Oleg Korolev Governor of Lipetsk region and Igor Babaev Chairman of the Board of Cherkizovo Group took part in the opening ceremony. Governors of Ulyanovsk and Saratov regions, representatives of Moscow Government, Head of «Gazprombank», President of Meat Union of Russia also attended the ceremony.
Arrival of such an eminent delegation was due to the fact that nowadays this project has no analogues in the country and is Russia’s first and unique pig breeding farm organized in full compliance with modern international technological and veterinary standards.
Construction of the farms started in June 2005. It’s planned output is 50,000 slaughter-weight annually. The project involves construction of four new integrated pig breeding farms, each for 4800 brood-sows and growing approximately 400000 breeds in a year. The total capital expenditures of Lipetsk project is expected to constitute over € 120 million. The planning repay period is less than five years. The Danish firm AIB Consult provided assistance with respect to the equipment installation, design of the farms and certain other matters. Special breeds of brood-sows are purchased from the Danish company Dan-Bred (Denmark), one of the leading European pig breeders.
