President of Russia V. Putin meets the leaders of Russian agro-industrial companies.
During the meeting with leading agro-industrial companies of Russia in Elista (Republic of Kalmykia), President Putin and Chairman of the Board of Сherkizovo Group Igor Babaev discussed the ways of further development of animal breeding industry in Russia. Igor Babaev set the example of the Group's project of construction of a new state-of-the-art pig breeding complex in Lipetsk region, which has no analogues in the country and is Russia's first and unique pig breeding farm organized in full compliance with modern international technological and veterinary standards. It's planned output is 50,000 slaughter-weight annually. The project involves construction of four new integrated pig breeding farms, each for 4800 brood-sows and growing approximately 400000 breeds in a year. The total capital expenditures of Lipetsk project is expected to constitute over € 120 million. Mr. Babaev stressed the importance of government's assistance in realization of such kind of projects to ensure rapid development of pig-breeding industry in Russia. Mr. Putin commented that the government and business should develop a specific mechanism of mutual partnership in this sphere.
