Igor Babaev meeting with Oleg Betin to discuss construction of the new integrated pig farm in the Gavrilovsky District, Tambov RegionOn Tuesday 5th December 2006, Igor Babaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cherkizovo Group OJSC, one of Russia's leading integrated and diversified meat producers, met with Oleg Betin, Governor of Tambov Region. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the construction of Cherkizovo Group's new integrated pig farm in the Gavrilovsky District, Tambov Region.
Construction of the pig farm started in July 2006, and this is further evidence of Cherkizovo Group continuing to successfully implement its strategy of developing and growing the Group's pig farming division. The integrated pig farm will adopt modern Western production technologies, following a similar model of Cherkizovo Group's Lipetsk integrated pig farm already in operation. At present Lipetsk is the only pig farm in the Russian Federation that operates in full compliance with modern international technological and veterinary standards.
The designed capacity of the integrated pig farm, which will consist of two modules, is 25,000 tones of meat per year. Each module is designed to simultaneously breed 10,000 pigs. Overall, Group investment in the new pig farm is anticipated to be approximately $80 million.
During the meeting Igor Babaev and the Governor of Tambov Region discussed the construction phases of the new integrated pig farm and land related issues.
