Cherkizovo Group announced today the opening of the first two modules of its new state of the art pork breeding and processing complex. Cherkizovo Group, one of Russia’s largest vertically integrated agro-industrial companies announced today the opening of the first two modules of its new state of the art pig production complex, the largest of its type in Russia and the first one in the country to comply with the modern international technological and veterinary standards.
The construction of the complex which, upon completion, is planned to comprise 4 reproduction modules, commenced in June 2005. It is envisaged that, when constructed, each module will house 4,800 sows providing for an overall annual reproduction and production capacities of 400,000 pigs and 50,000 tones of meat respectively.
The project has been carried out in cooperation with Dutch specialists and financed with the assistance of the administration of Lipetsk region. The Danish firm AIB Consult provided assistance with respect to the equipment installation, design of the farms and certain other matters. The sows were purchased from a leading European pig farm Dan Bred (Denmark).
